There’s
nowhere in the world quite like
North Wales Borderlands. If you like wide-open spaces
filled with nothing but you and a curlew, we have them aplenty.
If you prefer a sense of history and some of the oldest castles
in Wales, come and be our guest. If it’s gourmet food and a
bustling nightlife you fancy, you’ll find it all here.
So much to see and wonder at! After a couple of
days here you’ll be abuzz with all your experiences – the
sights, the sounds, the sheer joie de vivre you’ll discover at
every turn.
Just
what is it that gives the area its unique charm? Well, the
answer’s rather contrary. It’s a lovely place to be now because,
quite frankly, many hundreds of years ago, it wasn’t. The clue
lies in the name Borderlands – home in the past to some of the
bitterest skirmishes these islands have ever seen.
Nowadays, all is peaceful, and castles in places
like Flint, Dinas Bran and Chirk don’t have to be stormed – they
can be explored at your leisure. But exploring can work up a
rare old appetite so keep your eyes open for somewhere
to
eat afterwards. You can head for Wrexham and eat in any number
of swanky bistros, or you can sample the farmer’s market in
Ruthin. Or why not find a sleepy old drover’s inn in the Ceiriog
Valley and tuck into local produce fresh from the hills and
streams all around you?
So many choices. So much to see and do. That’s
the difference in North Wales Borderlands. And everything’s so
close to everything else. In just one day you can stroll along
the beach at Talacre, look in on an eisteddfod in
Llangollen,
see the Yale (university) family grave in Wrexham and catch an
opera at Clwyd Theatre Cymru in Mold. And you can bed down for
the night in a trendy designer hotel or a traditional old Welsh
farmhouse – as we said, it’s all about choices!
Perfect days in the most perfect of places.
North Wales Borderlands has everything you need for a fabulous
short break. All we need now is you, so come and join us soon!
